SQUARES
My squares and bars are deeply saturated cropped photos that are mounted onto Russian birch multi-ply plywood, using a special process cooked up in a Brooklyn basement. I supply push-in hooks that you can attach directly to the backs of the pieces.
The squares are numbered limited editions, and the bars are one-of-a-kind originals. In my opinion, both look best when hung in groups. And why not? They are very affordable, so have at it.
Most recently, I have been layering more and more collage into my work. I started out mostly with Chinese, and Chino Latino take-out menus, but am starting to throw in images of graffiti, street art, bus maps, Russian movie posters, subway timetables, "No Parking" signs, manhole covers, Mr. Softee trucks, Geovanny Polanco concert posters, Burmese, Pakistani, and Bulgarian newspapers, and of course, glatt kosher Bukharan restaurant sandwich boards.
All of this adds to the frenetic density of my squares and bars. Now excuse me, all this talk of sandwiches is making me hungry... Check out the catalog of squares.
