Josh Goldstein Bodega Art
PROCESS/STUDIO

Over the past year my squares have gotten much more layered and textured. Whether I am making a small, single panel piece, or a ten foot, 300-square piece, I often superimpose or collage secondary images onto the primary image. Some of my favorites are Chinese take-out menus (and Chinese-Guyanese, Indo-Chinese, and Chino-Latino), graffiti, bus maps, Russian movie posters, street art, Pakistani kebob carts, subway timetables, "No Parking" signs, Goya packaging, manhole covers, street grates, Mr. Softee trucks, Geovanny Polanco concert posters, Burmese, Arabic, and Urdu newspapers, and of course, glatt kosher Bukharan restaurant sandwich boards. Got any other ideas for me?

The multi-panel works are offered exclusively at Jan Larsen Art, in the DUMBO district of Brooklyn, NYC. Contact JLA by email at janlarsenart@ earthlink.net or ring (718) 797-2557 for directions and an appointment to view the work.
